Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus was founded in 2000 by Città di Torino and A.I.A.C.E. Torino as a place of growth and inter-generational dialogue to give visibility to audiovisual products realized by under 18 and to world-class cinema linked to the themes of childhood, adolescence and youth.

 

Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus is a showcase of top-quality films that has earned it the favor of the public and the media by offering a series of events for all audiences: national premieres, retrospectives and conferences given by major Italian and international guests, in addition to special programs.

Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus presents
– the general program with previews, restored films, retrospectives, international guests, special programs and events for the Festival audience;
– a section reserved for schools that includes the screening program aimed at classes of all levels, the National Competition of films made by schools and young filmmakers, and the activities of Sotto18 LAB with workshops and training opportunities

All screenings are in the original language and all are free admission.

Special Programs
Sottodiciotto provides an opportunity to examine issues of great topicality and social urgency. Among the most significant proposals of these past years were the special programs “La mafia è cosa nostra, Giovani in lotta per la legalità” (Young people in the struggle for legality), “Da questa parte del mare” (On this side of the Sea) sponsored by the International Organization for Migration and the National Center for Documentation and Analysis for Childhood and Adolescence on the issue of unaccompanied minors, “The Cartoon d’Or” promoted by Cartoon Media – European Association of Animation Film, “Educating for responsible growth” with a lesson held by Serge Latouche, Professor Emeritus at the University of Paris, “What’s the Big Idea?” meeting with the canadian philosopher Oscar Brenifier, L’arte di essere fragili. Come Leopardi può salvarti la vita, the exhibition Dylan Dog, Shock in my Town, Buon compleanno, Boris!, La grande festa della Pimpa, the exhibition Vedersi visti by Eleonora Manca.
